I spoke with a young lady yesterday who asked me what do you think they're going to do? I said this is Georgia honey, they're going to kill him. Now with the Georgia Board of Pardons and Parole board denying his request for clemency, Brother Troy Davis is closer to having his life extinguished.
The victim's mother has been harsh, she believes that the defense of Davis is a sham and is ready for his life to be taken, just as her son Mark MacPhail's life was taken. I understand it, her son is gone, she griefs for him to this day along with his children who didn't get to know him. She wants justice and it is her belief that the only way that it will be served is if Davis is put to death. In her eyes he is guilty.
I'm not here to beat up on the mother, what she and their family have been through has been painful. What I am here to do is beat up on the justice system. A system in Georgia that says, regardless of how full of holes the case is against you, no matter how many people have changed their story, no matter how many times you come before us and even bring in new information, we will still kill you.
That's how it is in the dirty, which is sprinting now towards the filthy.
What else can we do?
