The Dreaded Allegations - The Preacher

Two men have filed suit against one of Atlanta's pre-eminent Pastors, Bishop Eddie Long of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church. The suit brought by Anthony Flagg and Maurice Murray Robinson alleges that Bishop long coerced them an

d some employees of the church into sex. Details can be found here and they are disturbing.

These are allegations, a suit has been filed, as such Bishop Long as anyone else is innocent until proven guilty. This however, is a tough one. This isn't a Catholic Priest in New York or Boston, Bishop Long is Atlanta's own, a preacher of a mega-church, a black preacher. In our community, ministers have long been the rock of the community, held up in honor and highly esteemed. Now let me be clear, I'm no fan of Eddie Long, nor mega churches but for his parishioners, his family, friends and associates, it would be a devastating blow should these allegations turn out to be true. Yet as esteemed as he is, this story has a familiar refrain, the coercion allegedly occurred when these young men were teen

The Dreaded Allegations - The Preacher's Son

It's an old story with a new twist. Raghuveer Nayak, an Oakbrook IL business man, alleges that Jesse Jackson Jr.

was involved/held a major fundraiser with the intent to buy the U.S. Senate seat formerly held by President Obama. The twist? Jackson also requested airline tickets paid for by Nayak for him to be attended to by a Washington, D.C. restaurant hostess named Giovana Huidobro. Huidobro

claims that she didn't know anything about Jackson's political aspirations but copped to flying to Chicago several times and that on some of those occasions, Jackson did reimburse her.

Jesse Jr. so promising, but can now receive the proverbial fork, he's done.

Remember Eddie and Jesse Jr are innocent until proven guilty.

Disappointment of the Day

With the help of three Democrats, the Republicans successfully derailed and maybe even killed for good, the DREAM Act and the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell today by a vote of 56-43. Great job guys. Let's just keep undocumented folks and gays in the shadows.
